About

Thank you for stopping by!

Nothing about me is terribly exciting or out of the ordinary. In a nutshell, I could be described as: 30-something, professional counselor, wife, daddy’s girl, sister, aunt, friend, a shy extrovert, a huge fan of brunch, wannabe dog owner, scared of frogs (they jump, it’s gross), and  baseball lover. You can take your pick, I respond to all of the above.

I’m a newlywed, so you will see me mention my new hubby JB a lot. When I started this blog, he was a loving boyfriend who then became a loving fiance and is now a loving and patient husband. He’s gotten a little bit of a raw deal in this marriage gig, as the only things I really provide for him are love, companionship, and buying baby gifts. Making sure we stay fed and cleaned is usually up to him. He doesn’t complain, but I’m working on becoming a little more domesticated now that I’m a Wife.

Since getting married, I’ve felt like I’m at a watershed time in my life. I have been very reflective about what energizes me and how I want to find fulfillment in life beyond my wonderful husband, family and friends (which in and of themselves is enough because I am very lucky). Writing is a big part of this, and the blog is a place for me to share thoughts and stories that I hope others can relate and add to as we all try to strike the right balance in our lives.

If this doesn’t paint a picture of me, then also know that I have learned recently that when I dance, I think I am AWE.SOME.

Thanks for reading! I hope to hear from you.

  3. The same thing always happened to me on the see-saw, which forced me to give them up.

  5. Hi Caryn, I found your blog through Leah. Thank you Leah! I am very much in need of balance in my life, therefore I am signing up to get your tips on balancing 🙂

  6. Simplifying is over rated. I like your approach. Balance involves both ends of the spectrum and makes life much more interesting.

  7. Thank you Kimby! I really appreciate you reading through the blog and your comments. Look forward to more conversation!

  8. Wonderful “about” page Caryn! I had the same see-saw issues when I was a child and often thought they should be banned from playgrounds (maybe they are now). Thanks for stopping by my blog BTW.

    • And thank you too! Those see-saws are a death trap and now that you mention it, I don’t recall seeing them now (not that I frequent playgrounds), so perhaps people wised up!

  9. Oh, you sound nice! I like how you described yourself as a “shy extrovert”—could I use that to explain myself, too? And frogs—all that unpredictable jumping around they do! Is that really necessary? ; )

    • Hi Kate! Thanks so much for visiting the blog and your comments. Yes, you can definitely use “shy extrovert” — I think people forget that us extroverts can be reserved and shy as well. I enjoyed your blog and your great photos. Look forward to reading more. Thanks!
